Obscura Photog

Welcome to my blog. I post recent pictures for people to look at and discuss and critique. I will also post links to interesting photography, web sites, photo tutorial sites, design sites, and other blogs that I keep up with. There are alot of interesting and accessible sites out there. I'm also looking into developing more web hosting opportunities and announcements of interesting art installations, gallery shows, and whatever might be of interest here in New York City and/or around the globe. Thanks for checking things out and please feel free to comment, critique, make suggestions, or plug your own blog. All the best!

Remnant NYC Photos

It's been a while since a post. It's been busy what with the new job and all. I'm going through all the remaining NYC photos as Shannon and I compile a NYC Coffee Table Book. Should look cool. Here are some that I am a fan of, one is even a shot Shannon took of the Snowpocalypse, she's got an eye that one. I've grown tired of writing out all the photo information. If you're that interested, simply comment and I'll get it for you. One thing is all these were taken with a 25-70mm 2.8L lens, Christmas gift from my schmoops.

Brooklyn Hollah Back.

Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Peace Fountain.

Shake Shack. Those who know, know. Those who don't, well....

Snowpocalypse. Gotta admit I was a little jealous of this shot that Shannon took. It's composition is impeccable, it tells a story, is nostalgic, wonderfully done. Right place at the right time and the ability to recognize that. Fantastic.

Theodore's Part Dos

Theodore's

We visit my wife's cousin and his family up in Springfield, Massachussetts when we got to get away from the city. He runs an awesome bar, which doesn't hurt. It's called Theodore's, it's in downtown. Go to it should you be in the area. Here are some shots I snapped last time we were there enjoying some bar-b-cue.

Where Everybody Knows Your Name

I was first introduced to this place by a fellow Baylor Alumn. There he introduced me to Captain Lawrence's "Liquid Gold". Beer has never tasted so good. That's when I knew, my wolfpack had now found a den. I give you:

George Keeley's

Canon 24-70mm f2.8L @ 24mm f2.8 1/8 (+/- 2 Stops)

You might also notice that this phot was taken with my new lens. (thank-you schmoopy) It's pretty rad. Try and not be jealous.

AHOY!

So with the holidays, it's been stupid busy. As one can imagine. But here is something that I took when on a lovely trip with the wifey in BAHSTAHN near the HAHRHRBAH.

This also doubled as my dad's Christmas gift, looks great printed, if I do say so mah self.

A Re-run

Ok, ok, ok. I know I've done this one before. I recently started working on cleaning up some of the photos in post with some better programs that I got for Photoshop. This would be how I meant it to be viewed in the first place. I'll also add back in the before so you can tell me if you see a difference.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

While they both have good merit, I like the second better. It has more of a stark contrast that I was looking for when I first took the picture.
